Dwight Shundo was one of my very close friends.

We met while attending Harbor Junior College, in California, back in 1963. We had many classes together and that's how we became friends.

Dwight had a winning smile and seemed to know everyone, especially the young women!

He and I became the lead artists on campus and took almost every art job that came through the college, thus creating the pattern that was to be our relationship throughout our life.

He was from San Pedro, California, and lived down the street from Andrea MacDonald, whom he would later introduce me to and who was eventually to become my wife.

Dwight and I had many great art adventures and learned a lot from each other. He was much better at graphic arts than I, but when I ventured into the world of sculpture, years later, Dwight would also take that route.

He had many talents; photography, painting, origami, illustrating, and sculpture to name a few. He also loved the idea of “hands on type of work”, which creating wax figures
was all about, so he soon came to work with me. He loved that he could meet so many different people that were drawn to the wax business and would always bring in new friends that he met.

Dwight was always willing to try new things and he eventually became one of my fishing buddies, more for the companionship of the guys and to share in our fishing adventures.

Below are some photos taken at different times during his life. It is hard to think of him as being gone, but I will always cherish the times we had shared. He will be missed.
